Terminator Genisys screening Los Angeles

Terminator Genisys Screening with Q and A
Hosted by Hero Complex
Los Angeles, June 29, 2015

Jai Courtney - Terminator Genisys screening

I went to a free screening of Terminator Genisys last night which was hosted by the Hero Complex and sponsored by Imax. I love the Hero Complex screenings as they give everyone free popcorn and soda (or water if you prefer). The Q&A's are also fun. The Q and A after the screnning was moderated by Meredith Woerner (LA Times Staff Writer) and had producers David Ellison and Dana Goldberg, and actor Jai Courtney ("Kyle Reese").

The main takeaways I have from the Q&A are:

1. They want to make more and hope to get to (read: go see the movie!!), and they know what the last line of the, potential, third film would be.

2. Apparently, Jason Clarke (John Connor) has a serious prep for scenes (Jai started laughing at this comment by David Ellison, so I'm assuming that David made a significant understatement.), but Ellison wouldn't elaborate.

3.  An audience member asked Jai a question on how comfortable it was to film the nude scene with Emilia Clarke (Spoiler: there are no sex scenes in the film).  Jai responded that they were wearing modesty "devices" then strapped into harnesses so it wasn't comfortable at all.  He avoided the implied question completely.

4. Jai's physical prep for being naked a few times included 2 months of lots of running and working out for 2 hours every day, drinking roughly 2 gallons of water per day, and eating nothing but salmon.  He did say that it was "no way to live."

Jai Courtney - Terminator Genisys screening

Hero Complex hosts screenings in various cities, with Los Angeles and New York being the most common.  I found out about this screening via their Twitter account.

I just obtained some passes a few minutes ago to a screening of Marvel's Ant-Man tonight (with possible cast appearances), so I'll post about that later this week.  I didn't cover the Ant-Man premiere last night because I was at this Terminator Genisys screening.

Terminator Genisys Los Angeles Premiere

Terminator Genisys Premiere
Los Angeles, CA
June 28, 2015

I was able to get some "first come, first serve" passes for the Terminator Genisys premiere being held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California on Sunday, June 28, 2015.  The passes had a start time of 3:30pm, but when I saw the bleachers set up via the Hollywood Blvd. webcam, I knew that I would have to line up much earlier than the 12:30ish I had planned on. I arrived a little after 10am and it was already 85 degrees outside.  The line was in the sun until about 1pm so we were pretty miserable for the first few hours.

I grabbed some lunch around noon and took some pictures of the set-up.  I also took this opportunity to ask one of the security personnel what time the arrivals would begin.  He wasn't sure but estimated 5pm.  Though, this wasn't correct, it told me that they would be loading us into the bleachers around 3pm and the arrivals would be beginning at 3:30pm rather than the screening starting at 3:30pm,

Here are a few pictures of the set up:

This screen showed scenes from the film all day. (I would end up on the risers under it)

They gave out the wristbands around 3:30pm and they didn't even check to see if we had passes, but I think they were in a hurry since the arrivals were already happening so they had to fill the bleachers fast!

Here are some shots from the risers section I was in:

They handed out some Terminator Genisys sunglasses (courtesy of Fandango.com) in the area I was standing in. I think we were the only ones getting them as I didn't see anyone in the bleachers sections get anything.

During the red carpet, fire would shoot out from the scaffolding above us.  It kept scaring me and it also made it even warmer.

Luckily we were in the shade, but it was even warmer due to the close proximity of bodies.
I only had my cell phone with me, but since I was so close to the red carpet, the pictures turned out really well.

I have no idea why Chris Hardwick was there.

One of the funniest things I heard while standing in the risers area, was a boy about 8-10 years old say that he wanted a picture of the "red person."  His tone was one of awe at seeing a "red person" and the person he was referring to was Arnold Schwarzenegger.  I laughed so hard because the boy had no clue who the man was, just that he was "red."

This is the only picture I got of Emilia Clarke as she was still far away when we given our tickets to go into the screening.

Once we were inside the Dolby Theater, I immediately went to get the popcorn and soda (they are free at almost all premieres) and to take my seat.  I had been standing for hours and I wanted to relax on soft (not concrete) seats in air-conditioning.

I took these just before the movie began.

Terminator Genisys is fun, and as a fan of the first two films, I love how they incorporated elements and scenes from those films, but it could have been much better.   Without giving any spoilers, I will say that I love (with a little hate) seeing more of John Connor, the man and soldier/leader.

I'm seeing Terminator Genisys again tonight at another screening which will have a Q and A with Jai Courtney after the movie.

DIY: Game of Thrones - House of Tyrell inspired beaded memory wire bracelet

I made more bracelets for giving away at San Diego Comic Con which is 3 weeks from today (EEK!).  A friend (YourFriendElle.com) and I will be giving these bracelets as well as others I've posted recently away while we are at SDCC.  Be sure to follow me (@WeirdLifeofV) and Elle (@YourFriendElle) on Twitter for updates so you can find us.  We'll have other goodies in addition to those I have posted.  I have a few more posts on other items I made for the giveaways, but not everything will be posted ahead of time so there will be a few surprise items available.

I based these bracelets on the house sigil as well as the rose belt worn by Margery Tyrell on the TV show, "Game of Thrones."  Please excuse the string on the bracelet in one of the photos. I started adding the tags before I remembered I hadn't taken the photos.

I'm about done crafting items for giveaways.  I know my items are very female-centric, but this is what I know how to do. I have some simpler necklaces which, will not be posted on this site but possibly will be posted on Twitter, with  Doctor Who and Avengers themes for the giveaways. I also have some earrings themed around a certain movie which will have it's next installment released this coming December.
